Pakistani Cricketer’s humiliation: Who is the culprit ?

by durjay on January 19, 2010

The nail has hit hard on the head. They have been given nod from Pakistan govt side for playing in IPL. They have been asked to apply for the auction. It was Lalit Modi Who set the deadlines for documents of Pakistan players. And the franchises required their visa information from Pakistan and Cricket Board. Done everything !!! Now, you have No takers..

Pakistani Players Ignored

Few franchisee owners cited the strategic reason for not picking Pakistani players, and others raised the concerns over their availability. Whatever may be the reason Indian public will definitely miss some of the good T20 players in IPL. When you say the relation between two countries are still fragile and there may araise a chance that government could deny the Pakistani players, Indian government should have given that guarantee. and Mr Lalit Modi should have taken care of it. This would have given the franchisee a bit of confidence.

Had a single Pakistani players got a bid, it would have been a strong message of hope for a better relation between the two countries. What happened today is definitely a setback. Many Indians will definitely miss Afridi,  Akmal,  Aamer and others.

If international sports is for building better relation between countries, then whatever may be the reason, players from a specific country should not be abandoned when they are the world champs in this format.

Lalit Modi is taking things for granted. Being the IPL boss, he should have clarified from the govt regarding the stand of the govt on playing the Pakistani players. If he really wants to make IPL a matured tournaments, he should make arrangements of expanding the horizon of fan base, not by clipping it. He should stop blabbering about himself whenever he gets a chance as this is about the pride of Cricket and India.
